Sherlock Holmes: Slash & Fandom Survey

shakeytime:

Hi all! I’m writing a paper for “Sherlock Holmes: Past and Present,” an academic conference being held next month in London. http://www.ies.sas.ac.uk/ies-events/conferences/SherlockHolmes

Anyhoo, I’m writing about slash in the fandom and would love to include some data from you, the fans! Whether you’re a part of the Cumber-Collective or an old school canon fan, a slasher or not, I want to hear from you! I’m interested in answering questions about gender, sexuality, characterization, fan culture, and more. Hopefully, the answers you give me can help paint a broader picture of the appeal of slash fanfiction and fanworks.

I’ve created a short survey- it’s 10 questions, anonymous, and shouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes. If you have more to say and would like to be interviewed, or have any questions, send me a message!

Thanks everyone! :”)

P.S. Reblog please! I’m trying to get as many responses as possible. Thanks so much to everyone who has already taken it. Jumpers, jam, and crime scenes for you all!

“My mind,” he said, “rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere. I can dispense then with artificial stimulants. But I abhor the dull routine of existence. I crave for mental exaltation. That is why I have chosen my own particular profession,—or rather created it, for I am the only one in the world.”

Holmes: In a few minutes, you will say it is all so absurdly simple.
Watson: I should say nothing of the kind.

Your mind. It’s so placid. Straightforward. Barely used. Mine’s like an engine, racing out of control. A rocket, tearing itself to pieces trapped on the launch pad. I need a case!
